The Permanent Board serves as the governance body for New England Yearly Meeting of Friends between our Annual Sessions.

Administration

Reviews and recommends personnel policy for the Yearly Meeting and advises the Yearly Meeting secretary on personnel issues

Develops the annual budget and oversees Yearly Meeting accounts

Shepherds the work of the Yearly Meeting; advises and helps coordinate the many committees of the Yearly Meeting

Manages and invests Yearly Meeting funds and other funds entrusted to it

Sets policies and procedures for submitting materials to the Yearly Meeting Archives

Naming & Nurturing Gifts

Nominates people to serve on the Friends Camp Committee

Recommends Friends to serve as presiding clerk, recording clerks, and reading clerks of New England Yearly Meeting

Proposes nominations for the clerk and recording clerk of the Permanent Board; for the standing committees of Permanent Board, and at-large members of the Yearly Meeting Nominating Committee

Identifies and encourages Friends with the gifts and skills to serve through Yearly Meeting committees

Ministries & Programs

Supports the nurturing of the faith life, spiritual growth, and leadership of children and youth of New England Yearly Meeting

Plans the program and related activities for our annual gathering

Seeks to foster the spiritual growth and strengthen the religious life of Friends in New England

Oversees the award of grants to support the ministries of Friends in New England

Has stewardship of Friends Camp

Is revising the book of Faith and Practice of New England Quakers

Advocacy & Public Witness

Brings a spiritual approach to educating New England Friends about racial, social, and economic justice issues.

Educates Friends and others about climate destabilization and other environmental issues

Relationships

Comprises Yearly Meeting representatives to triennial gatherings and on the General Board of Friends United Meeting.

Represents New England Yearly Meeting on the Central Committee of Friends General Conference.

Fosters the spiritual relationship with Cuban Friends and facilitates intervisitation between New England and Cuba Yearly meetings.

Represents NEYM in the work of the international Friends World Committee for Consultation, and promotes and interprets FWCC’s work within the Yearly Meeting.

Works to strengthen Friends faith and practice of Moses Brown School and support the relationship between New England Yearly Meeting and the School.
