Quaker Indian Boarding Schools Research Group

At Annual Sessions 2022, Friends asked the Permanent Board to begin the process of researching New England Quakers’ involvement with Indian Boarding Schools, and to do this in consultation with the Archives Committee and the Right Relationship Resource Group.

A working group to define the scope of research evolved into the Quaker Indian Boarding Schools research group, and these Friends have worked for more than a year to produce the report which is posted under "Downloads," below.

A bipartisan bill is now in the House of Representatives to create a Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding Schools. For more detailed information, the full text of the bill and legislative updates on progress in the House is available here and the FCNL summary and legislative ask is available here. For more information about the creation and contents of the bill, necessary legislative process, or actions individuals or meetings can take, contact Nicole Gandhi ([email protected]).
