Getting to Know UMass Amherst
On Friday night, anytime between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m., you are encouraged to come by the Ballroom on the second floor of the Student Union building. We will be giving tours of the rooms we will be using during Sessions. There will also be light snacks and other welcoming activities. This is also a great time to pickup papers from the Information Desk. Come One, Come All!
The Amherst campus of UMass is big, but not that difficult to navigate. We've created a map to orient you to the dorms and buildings we will be using, found below under "File Downloads." Our program spaces are in buildings near the UMass Library, which can be seen from most of campus. Of course we'll have golf cart shuttles, as always.
Get a brief introduction to the facilities we'll be using in this slideshow.
We will be eating at Worcester Commons, which offers numerous choices of cuisines, including Indian, Asian, and Mexican, as well as "street food" and others. It's a bit like a food court. Watch a brief video below. Menus are posted here—and you can even see future menus. You can also click on every menu item for full nutrition information and a list of ingredients.
Dining on Campus
Parking
Dorms: Those staying in dormitories will receive a parking pass for the nearest lot upon check-in. You will receive your dorm assignment before you get to campus so that you may park and unload
Commuters: Commuters will get a coupon code for the Campus Center Parking Garage and instructions for using it in an email early next week.
Handicap Parking: Vehicles displaying a state-issued placard or license plate may park in any marked Reserved Accessible Space; any regular, unreserved space; or any parking meter at no charge. The only spaces where placard/plate-holders may not use are (1) those reserved specifically for a campus entity (Res Life Staff, UMPD, etc.); (2) the Lower Campus Center Parking Garage; and (3) the PVTA bus surface lot. Note: all vehicles, regardless of accessible placards or plates, must pay when utilizing the Campus Center Parking Garage.
More details about arriving on campus, checking in, parking, and reminders will be sent via email before you arrive on campus.
