We Are Who We Wait For: The Community Retreat
As we shed a tear for the last dredges of summer and pull our autumnal sweaters from their closet perch, a great blissful joy ripples through me as I realize, my F/friends, it is time for our first retreat of this new year!
Get to know you games? Check. Awesome songs to sing? Check. Snacks & hot chocolate? Check. Time to dive deeper into the awesome people who make up this community, empower ourselves, find our universal voice, and take some ownership in building/rebuilding the space around us? Also Check!
This fall (October 17th-19th) in Providence, Rhode Island, Young Friends are invited to gather into what’s often known as the Get-to-know-you Retreat that kicks off our year as rising Young Friends are welcomed into the fold and young guests take a peek at what we’re all about. And I’m very excited to do that very thing with you all. But I’m also excited to see what this community wants to become, and that’s the theme.
We are the Ones We Have been Waiting for: Inner Light in the Darkness is the title of a book by author Alice Walker (The Color Purple) but it's not just a title – it’s what I want you to know about yourselves. We have been waiting for each one of us to be right here, right now, bringing that of God into this place, most especially during these strange times we live in. We bring the depth, we bring the light, we bring the joy, we bring the sillies, we bring the crafts, we bring the convos, we bring the hikes, we bring the truth, we bring the change. If we’re looking for it, it lives among us already. And I’m excited to play in the sandbox of discovery with you all.

Pricing for the retreat is pay-as-led sliding scale. $60 is great for families with a limited budget, $125 covers direct costs, $225 covers all costs.
