Volunteer at Sessions

Volunteers make Sessions possible! Here is a list of the jobs we need volunteers for.

The position title links to details and application information. (Some positions don't have linked information.)

BIPOC Opportunities Coordinator for Annual Sessions

While Friends’ time at Sessions offers many meaningful opportunities to be in community together, the Yearly Meeting recognizes the particular importance of having opportunities for Sessions participants who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to gather together, support one another, and share their experiences.

In order to facilitate these opportunities, recognizing both the significance of these opportunities for the life of the Friends community, and the emotional labor this work involves, these opportunities are supported by a stipended coordination role.

Home Group Facilitators

We are seeking interest from facilitators (and co-facilitators) at all levels of availability and experience. Home Groups meet for 75 minutes at the same time each day and will be offered at various times throughout the day to accommodate different schedules. Friends can register for the level of commitment that works with their lives and schedules: meeting each day, meeting every other day, or a daily drop-in group.

Whisper Buddies for Business Meeting

We are seeking Friends experienced with NEYM business meetings to serve as "whisper buddies" who can help answer questions about the business meeting and Quaker process for newcomers, youth, and young adults. If you are willing to be contacted with more information about possibly serving as a "whisper buddy," please email Emi Link.

Tech Team Volunteers

Volunteering on the tech team for NEYM Sessions is an opportunity to serve the Yearly Meeting, build your Zoom skills, and join a community of people who are working at the intersection of tech and spirit. At last year's Sessions the tech team surprised ourselves with the depth of community that emerged out of our shared work.

Here's what we are looking for in people who will join us:

  • Some experience using Zoom as a participant in meetings for worship and business
  • Ideally, also some experience in tech hosting, although interest in learning is enough
  • Willingness to learn one or two new tools, follow instructions carefully, show up for meetings on time, and follow through on commitments
  • Above all, an interest and willingness to see the work as a variety of care of worship

If you'd like to learn more, please email [email protected] and let us know about your interest!
