Details

Harriet Heath—longtime coordinator of the Quaker Parenting Initiative—and Gretchen Baker-Smith—former Yearly Meeting Children and Family Ministries Coordinator—host weekly parent conversations on Zoom every Thursday evening.

As each parent shares, topics and themes emerge, ranging from making decisions as a family and navigating education systems to meet children's needs, to trying to connect with local meetings. Sometimes a query is offered ahead of time. These drop-in sessions have helped parents find each other, share resources, ask questions, and be part of a community trying to tie family life with a grounding in Quakerism. The last few minutes are reserved for a bit of quiet reflection together. Over time, laughter, questions, resources, marvels, and fears have been shared and friendships formed.

The Zoom link is sent out each week to all on the list. Parents who are interested in joining can email Harriet or Gretchen.
