A weekend gathering to join voices and find creative ways of being together as we navigate cycles of violence and despair.
As we navigate cycles of violence and despair, Pendle Hill invites Friends to a weekend featuring Annie Patterson and Niyonu Spann to explore song as a metaphor and practice of rest, rejuvenation, and resistance. From professional singers to those who may not be confident in their own voices, how can listening and singing together rest and restore us? How can we write our own resistance songs to guide and sustain us? What can Friends learn from song about the practice of accompaniment? This weekend is about joining voices and finding creative ways of being together in this moment. It will feature a gentle schedule of community-building and fellowship, including plenaries and small group workshops, and, of course, time to sing together.
Workshop leaders will be Annie Patterson (Mount Toby, MA, Friends Meeting) and Niyonu Spann, who was our plenary speaker at Annual Sessions in 2014.
