In December 2024, Friends Lugulu Mission Hospital’s Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC)—supported by Catholic Charities through U.S. foreign aid—employed twenty-three dedicated staff members who provided lifesaving medical services and counseling to patients diagnosed with HIV and tuberculosis. The clinic also operated essential malaria mitigation programs in the region.
When USAID funds were halted by the U.S. government in early 2025, the hospital was forced to cease all CCC activities and dismiss the clinic staff. Over the past year, though the process has been difficult, FLMH has managed to recall every staff member. No one has permanently lost a job. USAID support remains uncertain, but by God’s grace and with the help of the FUM community, FLMH remains committed to ensuring that HIV/AIDS patients continue receiving their lifesaving treatment.
This restoration has been possible in part because of the generosity of Friends from around the world. Come be encouraged by learning more about FLMH! Friends United Meeting invites you to attend our next Encourage One Another in Love Zoom presentation on Thursday, May 21, at noon ET.
