Young adults (ages 19 to 35) who are attending New England Quakers Living Faith gathering at the Friends School of Portland on March 28th are warmly invited to gather at Durham Friends Meeting, a 20-minute drive from the school.
Gather for fellowship, fun, simple food, sleeping at the meetinghouse, and joining Durham Friends for worship on Sunday morning. Join us for just a little while or the whole weekend.
What to expect for the young adult overnight:
Flexible arrivals at Durham Meeting begin Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Cambridge Friend Glen Cote will serve as coordinator and host providing simple yummy food, arts & crafts, and a warm welcome.
Durham Meeting does not have bedrooms and showers so accommodations will be “indoor camping” style: bring a sleeping bag and pillow plus a facecloth and toiletries.
On Saturday morning after breakfast, overnight participants will depart the meetinghouse for the day, heading 16 miles away to the Friends School of Portland to join a big group of Friends of all ages for the Living Faith gathering (see more info below).
After Living Faith, overnight participants will have time for relaxation and dinner before returning to Durham meetinghouse for the evening.
For those who are able to stay Sunday morning, Durham Friends warmly welcome you to join them for worship, which begins at 10:25 a.m.
This event is offered on a pay-as-led (sliding scale) basis and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. We suggest a donation of $25 per night to cover food costs but you can enter the amount that is right for you when you register.
Interested in attending the overnight for some or all of the time? Register here by March 22. Registration after that date is based on availability and planner discretion.
About Living Faith:
Living Faith is a day-long “meeting for learning” gathering of Friends of all ages from throughout New England. The event is a chance for 100+ Friends to worship together, learn more about the Quaker tradition, share the different ways we experience and live our faith, and build spiritual community. This year our theme will be “Spring forth the well: our lives as witness."
