We will gather and reflect on our own common ground—the shared values and goals that bring us together as a community, and our collective responsibility to the Earth we all call home.
We are excited to announce our plenary speakers for this years gather, Eileen Flanagan and Geoffrey Garver.
Eileen Flanagan is an award-winning author, speaker, and Quaker activist. She has served as both clerk and campaign director of Earth Quaker Action Team and has trained people across the U.S in nonviolent strategies for change. Her newest book, Common Ground: How the Crisis of the Earth is Saving Us from Our Illusion of Separation, offers lessons, not only for those concerned about our environment and climate, but for all those who want to work across our divisions for a better world.
Geoffrey Garver teaches environmental and law at McGill & Concordia Universities in Montreal and coordinates research for the Leadership for the Ecozoic program of McGill University & the University of Vermont. He is on the Steering Committee of the Ecological Law and Governance Association and is active in the international degrowth movement. His book Ecological Law and the Planetary Crisis was published in 2021. Geoff is now co-clerk of Montreal Monthly Meeting, a member of the Quaker Institute for the Future Board of Trustees & associate clerk of the Canadian Friends Service Committee executive committee.
