For Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (BIPOC)

While Friends’ time at Sessions offers many meaningful opportunities to be in community together, the Yearly Meeting recognizes the particular importance of having opportunities for Sessions participants who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (BIPOC) to gather together, support one another, and share their experiences.

This year there are two opportunities being offered specifically for BIPOC Friends (one of which is also inclusive of family members who do not identify as BIPOC). On Friday, August 6th, from 7–8:30 p.m. (EST) there will be a welcoming, pre-sessions gathering for BIPOC attendees and their families. Then, on Tuesday, August 10th, from 2:30–4:30 PM (EST), a space of mutual support for BIPOC participants will be offered.

In addition to hosting these opportunities for BIPOC Friends, the Sessions Planning Team has added the role of BIPOC Opportunities Coordinator to this year's Team. This year's Coordinator, Emma Turcotte, will be hosting both of the aforementioned gatherings. If you have any ideas, questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach out directly to Emma Turcotte.
