Woolman Hill and NEYM to offer multi-generational faith and leadership program
Nurturing Worship, Faith and Faithfulness among New England Friends
NEYM and Woolman Hill Retreat Center are pleased to announce the creation of a new program, Nurturing Worship, Faith, and Faithfulness (NWFF), a collaboration between New England Yearly Meeting, Woolman Hill, and Marcelle Martin, author of Our Life is Love: The Quaker Spiritual Journey.
NWFF is a multi-generational faith and leadership program designed to help Friends in New England explore ways to meet God more deeply, hone methods of discernment, reach for fuller faithfulness, and ultimately bring these gifts and strengthened abilities home to their local meetings and beyond. The program is structured to set in place support, encouragement, and accountability. It includes three weekend residencies from August 2017–May 2018 at Woolman Hill, with online and at-home work before and between residencies. The class members will become a community of practice so as to support each other in providing and receiving spiritual nurture to and from local meetings in lasting ways.
Marcelle is offering a Woolman Hill workshop Easter weekend (April 14–16), “Turning to the Indwelling Presence of the Divine,” that will be a first taste of the program. We are very excited about Nurturing Worship, Faith and Faithfulness and are delighted at the fruitfulness it may hold for the Quaker movement in New England.
We hope you will hold this opportunity prayerfully and listen for names of Friends that rise for whom this program would be a good next step on their spiritual journeys, or those whose gifts of spiritual nurture your meeting wishes to encourage. Perhaps you will feel a "nudge" yourself to consider attending.
The application form will be available on the Woolman Hill website by February 20, 2017. The early deadline, which gives priority to NEYM Friends, is May 30th. The residency dates are set and a price range will be finalized in the spring. We are applying to at least three granting sources in the hope of receiving significant support that will lower the cost for all participants and add extra scholarship monies as well.
