Fall Living Faith Gathering Cancelled, April is Still On!
I am writing with the sad news that we are canceling the October 28th Living Faith gathering that was to happen in Hartford, Connecticut this fall. The planned April 2018 Living Faith gathering in Maine will continue as planned, and we hope you will be with us then to continue our yearly meeting's commitment to these joyful and life-giving events.
In consultation with the Coordinating & Advisory Committee, we reluctantly made the decision to cancel the October event for several reasons. Any one of these might have been overcome, but taken together it was clear that we don't have we capacity to offer this event this fall.
One of these challenges is that, despite the remarkable success and energy generated by the two Living Faith gatherings in the past year, in recent months we have been unable to recruit people with the needed gifts and skills to join the planning committee. Since we began Living Faith, one of our goals has been to keep it sustainable—both financially and logistically. Without more committee support, the planning and work would have been too much for our small committee this fall. We will instead invest our energy in making the Spring Living Faith gathering a nourishing and connecting event, as we work to make these gatherings sustainable going forward.
We are committed to the April 14th Living Faith gathering this spring—more information will appear in upcoming email newsletters, on neym.org and in communication directly with local meetings.
We would be delighted to talk with Friends who are interested to explore serving on the planning committee. Please contact me directly at [email protected].
We look forward to gathering with Friends from across New England and beyond in Maine in April, and hope to see you then!
