As many New England Friends are aware, Gretchen Baker-Smith (Westport, MA, Friends Meeting), our beloved Children and Family Ministries Coordinator, has become clear to retire from her service with the Yearly Meeting following Annual Sessions in August 2022.
With deep gratitude for her decades of service, and with hope and excitement for the future of Quaker youth ministry in our region, the Yearly Meeting is beginning a search process for the Friend who will take up this essential part of nurturing the faith formation of elementary- and middle-school-aged Friends, supporting their families, and connecting with the youth ministry of local Friends meetings in the coming months and years.
Please share this opportunity widely with those who you believe may bring the gifts, calling, and experience needed for this vital role. Questions or suggestions about any aspect of this search process, or this position, may be directed to Sarah Gant (Beacon Hill, MA, Friends Meeting), Acting Secretary for Governance and Pastoral Care, at [email protected].
To apply, please send a letter of interest and resume to [email protected].
More information on the search process will be shared as it becomes available. It is expected that applications will be due by February 15, 2022, with the hope that the Friend called by the Yearly Meeting to serve in this full-time position will begin serving by the summer of 2022.
