Summary of our morning session
In response to the commitment of the Yearly Meeting coming out of our Annual Sessions (minute 2016-64) to work on addressing issues of white supremacy in ourselves and “at all system levels of NEYM” the Committee on Ministry and Counsel took time for an initial step in this wide-reaching and ongoing work. We spent the morning viewing the video “Cracking the Codes” (http://crackingthecodes.org/), and discussing the issues of culture, privilege and inequity presented in the video. The video is available for meetings who are interested in taking up this work to borrow from the NEYM office. Members of Ministry and Counsel found that the film helped us connect to one another, and offered lessons for us to take forward into the world as we continue to learn new ways of thinking and being in response to the reality of white supremacy in our culture today.
