Mission Works Conference: Embracing Hospitality
The conference features a variety of ecumenical speakers, panelists, and practitioners. The focus is on hospitality in a variety of meanings, considering the question, "How can we build places of refuge and respect and build bridges across racial, religious, theological, cultural, and economic divides?" The conference will invite participants to consider how they are called as people of faith to cross-cultural hospitality, re-settlement, prison/incarceration ministry, outreach to the elderly, environmental justice, and ministry to the Stranger—topics of interest to New England Friends.
Details can be found here. There is a special rate negotiated at the conference hotel for folks who want to stay overnight. Though online registration is available, printing and mailing in a paper registration will save the conference organizers processing fees.
Kristina Keefe-Perry (Fresh Pond, MA, Friends Meeting) thinks "this will be a thought-provoking gathering and is timely given the work to which we have committed as monthly meetings in Salem Quarter—approving a minute on Prison Reform—and as a Yearly Meeting endorsing the Poor People's Campaign." Kristina is happy to answer any questions that folks may have.
