Young Friends Midwinter Retreat
At this, our longest retreat of the year, we'll enjoy the cozy buildings and beautiful nutural beauty of Woolman Hill while exploring the theme "Racial Justice" from a spiritual lens. While racial justice can feel big, overwhelming, and complex, at its core its about working towards healing and living into authentic relationship.
With special guest Lisa G, we will share personal stories, learn about leaders of racial justice movements who were sustained by their faith, practice responding to racism in our daily lives, and “try on” spiritual practices that help us move through uncomfortable thoughts & emotions into effective engagement.
While you may learn new terms, concepts, and facts at this gathering, the retreat is not an academic/school-y space. We will be honoring the needs of our bodies and souls as well as our minds and our schedule will allow for cozy rest, play, time in the snowy woods, building relationships, leisurely meals, and lots of singing.
This retreat is pay-as-led meaning there is no set fee and families can contribute as their budgets allow. We accept cash or check (made out to NEYM) at the time of the retreat. We offer these suggested donation amounts to your decision making: $70 is a huge help if bugets are tight, $135 covers food, supplies & building usage, $200 covers many retreat related expenses. We are grateful for all contributions and the greatest contribution of all is the presence of Young Friends at our retreats.
