The program for the day is (preliminarily) titled: "A Conversation About Quarters." What is a quarter and what does it do—what is its list of "must-do" functions? How do other quarters in our Yearly Meeting differ from ours in the way they operate or gather? What would be lost if the quarter didn't meet? Quarters provide opportunities for education, outreach and meeting others; how can we make our quarter more vital? What relationship to our Living Faith gatherings might the quarters play? Should our quarter's borders/constituent meetings change?
This is a timely program. During the April meeting, those gathered voiced a desire for Salem Quarter to engage in some reflection and conversation about where the Life is. The hope is that an ad-hoc committee of Friends will assemble to travel widely in the quarter and listen for how the constituent meetings find themselves in relation to Salem Quarter, both historically and today.
