Workshop: Supporting Ministry and Ministers
Are you called to ministry? Do you have a leading? Who in your meeting do you talk to about it?
A member of your meeting has come to you with a leading or a call to ministry. What does the Meeting do about it?
What are the structures that Quakers use to test and support leadings and ministry that help us be faithful?
The Legacy Gift Committee welcomes Friends to a “Workshop on Supporting Ministry and Witness” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Mount Toby Monthly Meeting in Leverett, MA. This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn how meetings can support Friends in ministry and witness while also providing spiritual and financial accountability.
In the morning we will begin with a panel of Friends from meetings with experience supporting ministry and Friends engaged in ministry. The panel will explore the experiences of different meetings, focusing on learnings and best practices that can be transplanted to meetings that wish to cultivate their ability to support ministry and witness.
After sharing lunch we will break into small groups to explore the practical matters involved in supporting ministry and witness: fundraising, accounting, tax reporting, support/oversight/care and accountability committees, and how to use these tools in a way that creates accountability while still maintaining a focus on the Spirit led nature of this endeavor.
We hope you will consider joining us, and if you have questions about this workshop, please feel free to contact Suzanna Schell, co-clerk, Legacy Gift Committee at [email protected]
