Recovering Sacred Presence in a Disenchanted World

Saturday, October 21, 2017 - 8:30am to 4:00pm

5 Longfellow Park
Cambridge , MA

The New Story Group in cooperation with Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM) is presenting this workshop. The Pendle Hill pamphlet, Recovering Sacred Presence in a Disenchanted World, by Mary Coelho (Cambridge) provides the structure for a day filled with breakout sessions and discussions.

Our keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Rodney Petersen, Executive Director at CMM, will talk about "Global Initiatives in Spirituality and Sustainability: Reflections on the Rome-Assisi Conference." Members of the New Story Group will convene breakout sessions on topics including: "Individual Spiritual Experience," "Quakerism and the New Story," "Braiding Sweet Grass: Living within a Different Tradition," "Climate Action," "Engaging with Artists Who Change Our Consciousness," "Consciousness of Divine Agency: Teilhard de Chardin," and, weather permitting, you will be able to take a cosmic walk from the big bang to the present for your noontime meditation. Sam Guarnaccia, composer of the "Emergent Universe Oratorio," will join us for the day. He will play a recording of parts of his oratorio as background throughout the day and as an occasion for meditation in the closing segment of the day.

Registration ($20 at the door) covers lunch, coffee break, handouts, and a copy of Mary’s Pendle Hill pamphlet (#433, 2015).  Click here to register online

To arrange for childcare, please email Nancy Cirillo by October 14.

Please join us on this joyful and exciting occasion!
