About

In Young Friends, we ask participants to agree to "committments", our behavior expectations. But beyond these expectations, what is that we are actually committing to when we agree to gather together as Young Friends? What is the deeper purpose of these agreements we make to each other?

Usually our retreat year begins with a small retreat only for Young Friends who are on Ministry and Counsel. This year after a number of challenging issues surfaced in the community, Young Friends felt let to open this gathering to any Young Friends (or recent graduates) who are wanting to be part of an extended conversation about building a healthier community at Young Friends retreats in the coming school year.

This will not be like our usual weekend-long retreats. At this day long gathering we will be spending most of our time in large and small group discussion and worship exploring questions such as these:

How do we build a safe and loving space for spiritual growth within Young Friends? What gets in the way?

When committments have been broken, how do we heal and rebuild trust among the group?

How can Young Friends, Ministry and Counsel and Resource People best work together in the coming year?

What makes "committments" different than rules?

What can we each do to make Young Friends amazing this year?

Please try to arrive between 9:30-10:00 AM and depart between 7:30-8:00PM. Lunch, dinner and snacks will be provided.

Ready to register? Please complete this form.

Registrations are strongly prefered by September 8th. At that time, a carpool list will go out.

There will be a small portion of this gathering where we will connect with Friends unable to attend in person (such as the graduated seniors) via video conference. If you only plan to attend remotely, simply email Nia.
