Building Relationships: Repatriation of Choctaw Ancestors and Sacred Objects

Deana Byrd is an archaeologist and an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation. She is currently working with several institutions across the U.S. for the respectful repatriation of Choctaw ancestors as part of a comprehensive nationwide search, the No Stone Unturned Project.

Deana will present an overview of her department, their NAGPRA* work, progress to date, and suggestions to consider for respectful consultation with Tribal partners throughout the NAGPRA process.
