Friends Decision Making: Active Participation, Clerking, and Recording

a four-part series
January 27-February 17, 2021
Four consecutive Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join Friends to develop skills in Quaker decision-making processes in our meetings and committees, including the particular functions of clerks and recording clerks.

More than a clerking workshop, this short series, which will happen over Zoom on four consecutive Wednesday evenings (January 27, February 3, February 10, February 17), will be interactive and involve breakout discussions and practice scenarios as well as some short reading between sessions. We will also model and discuss the particular challenges and opportunities that come with conducting business over Zoom.

We especially encourage people who are currently clerks or recording clerks of meetings, committees, or other groups, as well people who would like to prepare to step into these leadership roles to participate.

The series will be facilitated by experienced New England clerks and recording clerks including Holly Baldwin (Fresh Pond), Brian Drayton (Souhegan), Sarah Gant (Beacon Hill), and Regina McCarthy (Wellesley).
