A brief message about COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Dear Friends,

We had hoped that through cleaning surfaces and some behavior modifications we would be able to proceed with Living Faith. Unfortunately, the situation has changed rather dramatically over the past several days in many states in New England.  The Living Faith team will be meeting early next week to look at ways we can Live our Faith in our communities without being together in Portland.  The Cheverus High School asked us to postpone our event until a later date to protect the safety of their staff and students. We likewise were planning to cancel to protect all the wonderful Friends in our community.  I am sure many will be deeply disappointed as we are.  A further announcement will be made soon. If you registered already we will contact you about issuing refunds.

If you have any particular concerns please feel free to contact Elizabeth Hacala, Events Coordinator, at [email protected] or (740) 478-2537.

In Love and Light,

Whether this is your first chance to attend or you’ve been to every Living Faith Gathering, all are warmly welcomed to this lovely one-day event held each spring and fall. Please save the date: the upcoming Living Faith will be on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Cheverus High School in Portland, ME from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a coffee and cookies “snackluck” social time until 5 p.m.

You can read more about Living Faith on the FAQ page.

Registration is now open for Living Faith!

This is a chance for Friends new and old (and the Quaker-curious) from across New England and beyond to get to know one another, hold multigenerational worship together, share the different ways we experience and live our faith, and build community. A concurrent youth program explores these same themes in ways accessible to kids and teens; childcare is also available for our littlest ones. Registration will open at the beginning of March. Please come if you can—your presence will enrich us all!

Again this spring, there is an option for young adults (ages 18 to 35) to make a weekend of it by gathering early and staying late for some young-adult only time, and time with Friends of all ages during the day on Saturday. Come connect with others, visit with new meetings, and join in a bit of an adventure! More information for the Young Adult Friends retreat is here. Questions? Contact Nia Thomas.
