Saturday evening schedule: potluck supper at 5 p.m., program from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday evening program: “How is God guiding us to engage with others with whom we have fundamental disagreements on matters of conscience?” We encounter so frequently this challenge to our love for our neighbors and our consciences. How are we led to witness to the Truth as we discern it?
We are planning a program that will include a discussion of how we as Friends can engage with FUM around the issue of the FUM personnel policy. Our queries for the discussion include: How is God leading us regarding our relationship with Friends United Meeting, in view of its discriminatory and harmful personnel policy regarding gay and lesbian people and all those who are sexually active outside of heterosexual marriage? What do we want NEYM to do in this situation, and how can it be done? What are the options for monthly meetings to do, and how?
So what is God’s guidance in this particular case, and also in the many other issues we face these days? What do we do with our distress, anger, and urgency? How do we summon our patience, love, and compassion? And our good listening? Let us take some time to seek guidance together.
