Challenging White Supremacy Working Group
The ad hoc Challenging White Supremacy (CWS) working group of Permanent Board resulted from a minute approved at Annual Sessions in 2016 (Minute 2016-64). It a resource for the Yearly Meeting to offer encouragement, inspiration and practical support for Friends to engage in this work of loving concern and right relationship. The charge for the working group is posted below, in Downloads.
Design principles of our work (established at October 14, 2017, meeting on NEYM leadership in challenging white supremacy, facilitated by Lisa Graustein)
We intend that all our work and outreach should be:
- Grounded in the Spirit
- Action and Forward-Oriented
- Conducted to promote awareness of the interconnectedness in the Spirit: of racial justice, environmental justice, economic justice, sensitivity to class differences, gender equality, recognition of gifts and leadings, spiritually grounded budgeting
These queries are available for monthly meetings and individuals to grow in sensitivity to racism and racial identity.
The following handout comes from the Challenging White Supremacy Working Group, collected in 2017
