Young Adult Friends
2011 Young Adult Friends (YAF) Sessions Schedule (now posted)
New England Yearly Meeting Young Adult Friends (YAFs) is a loose-knit community of Quakers, typically between the ages of 18 and 35, who are woven into the larger body of New England Yearly Meeting (NEYM). The YAF community serves as a place for both YAFs new to the Religious Society of Friends and those who grew up in its Youth Programs to build an adult relationship with the Yearly Meeting, and explore what it means to be young and Quaker.
As YAFs, we seek to deepen our faith in God through community, worship, prayer, fellowship, service, eldering, and spiritual Friendships. We commit to supporting one another and the YAF community as a whole as we seek to recognize, discern and practice Divine leadings and spiritual gifts and become what God would have us be.
Our program for this Yearly Meeting is similar to previous years, including time with the older adults, YAF Business Meeting, experiments with worship, optional affinity groups, hanging out, playing games and making art in our lounge, and a beach trip.
We have YAF housing, for those who would like to be close to each other in the dorms.
If you need help with financial aid through the NEYM Equalization Fund, or questions about the YAF program, please contact the YAF Coordinator, Nia Koch.
We look forward to seeing you in August!
